An audio recording of Sprint/Nextel’s Electronic Surveillance Manager has been made available by Christopher Soghoian, a graduate student at Indiana University’s School of Informatics and Computing. This audio recording has shown that law enforcement officers could log into a special Sprint Web portal and gain access to geolocation logs detailing where Sprint/Nextel’s customers have been; where they are without ever having to demonstrate probable cause to a judge. Sprint/Nextel customers are probably unaware of this Surveillance by their carrier.
