Lynch announced yesterday that the Department of Justice would sue the state of North Carolina over HB2, the law that was enacted in March and mandates that people in public agencies use the bathrooms consistent with their recorded sex at birth and not with their gender identity. It was passed to respond to a recent law in Charlotte that mandated that bathrooms to suit transgender people be accounted for and barred discrimination against LGBT people. ( 11 May 2016)
