The last 24 hours have provided an explosion of new investigations into the Obama administration and its allies. National Review‘s Andrew McCarthy has called for Republicans to investigate the Justice Department’s racial discrimination. The FBI and the Labor Department announced today they are investigating Andrew Stern, the head of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), for financial improprieties. Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-SC, is warning fellow Democrats that a new Republican Congress will investigate Barack Obama’s birth certificate and eligibility. Lt. Col. Robert “Buzz” Patterson told NewsMax that Obama bundler Jodie Evans could (and should) be tried for treason. And Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-WI, today considered keeping open a House select committee to investigate climategate. (Rep. Darrell Issa also pledged to investigate this and many other crimes in the new year.) At a minimum, this confluence of coverage demonstrates the gravity of the charges and abundance of the need for increased scrutiny and potential legal action.

Pro-Terrorists and Thuggish Elitists on Speed Dial

The investigation of the former SEIU president cuts particularly close to the Obama White House. Andrew Stern is a former New Leftist who spent $5 million of SEIU union dues to buy into George Soros’ Democracy Alliance and later took a seat on the executive council of Americans Coming Together (ACT), Soros’ get-out-the-vote organ. (Journalists recently learned that ACT, which allegedly closed its doors in 2005, is still open and paid $775,000 in “civil fees” after Ralph Nader filed a Federal Election Commission complaint of dirty tricks in the ’04 election.) SEIU donated at least $27.8 million to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, and in return Stern visited the White House more than any other person. Obama, in turn, appointed SEIU lawyer Craig Becker to head the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Stern remains a member of Obama’s deficit reduction commission.

When Stern announced in April he was suddenly stepping down as SEIU president, no one knew why. Today’s announcement that the FBI and Labor Department are looking into his finances seems to clear up the mystery. The AP reported agents questioned Stern in May and June about a $175,000 advance he received from 2006 Simon & Schuster for his book A Country That Works, which may have been illegally fact-checked and promoted at SEIU expense. Given Obama’s long and intimate relationship with the union itself and Stern specifically, one wonders if the president had any knowledge of the dealings — and if he gave Stern the heads-up to quit the union before the investigation broke wide open.

I fully believe we need to help those who cannot help themselves. Healthcare reform should have only addressed those who cannot afford or qualify for healthcare. Welfare, unemployment benefits should be avaialable for those who need it. Please do not think obama is doing anyone a favor by continuing to extend unemployment. If he truly cared about us he would “make the hard pivot to job creations” as he promised in January.

If a President wants to quote from the Declaration of Independence in order to make a point about diversity and liberty, it’s probably a good idea to write the actual language from the Declaration into the speech. After all, most people have fairly ready access to the text, and if the President leaves something out, it’s not going to escape notice — especially when the part that gets omitted directly relates to the entire concept and origin of our natural rights. Barack Obama leaves a big hole in the declaration when speaking to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institue:

Towards the end of a speech on September 15 to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Obama began quoting the famous “rights” line from the founding document. But partway through, he omitted where those rights come from: a Creator.
The line is supposed to read: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
But Obama’s recitation left out an important part: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are crated equal. [Long Pause] Endowed with certain inalienable [sic] rights: life and liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
American Thinker seems to believe that the omission was both extemperaneous and deliberate:
After President Obama says “created equal..”, there is a long pause during which he scowls and blinks several times. For once, he may actually have opted to not read something that was on the teleprompter. It looks like he is disgusted and decided it would be better not to read what the [Declaration] actually says.
If that were true, Obama would have redlined the phrase out of the speech before it got to the Teleprompter. Either way, it’s an amateurish stumble. One does not rewrite the founding documents of the nation, not even if one is The One.
